- Choose and mark one consistent starting datum.
- Measure the finished usable width at more than one height.
- Measure the actual face width of trim, battens, tiles, or panels.
- Record every value with its unit and note any obstruction or uneven edge.
Keep the original measurements. Converting a value for display should never replace the site value you recorded.
